Great American Cleanup

Keep America Beautiful's, Great American Cleanup, is underway in Philadelphia. Events in March have been both educational and active. Events thus far have included school presentations about litter and graffiti abatement; a community rain barrel presentation; a community tree planting and clean up; and the introduction of public event recycling along Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park. Still to come this month are a community restoration clean and green seminar and the annual PMBC Block Captain Rally.

For April, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful is assisting groups and neighborhood commercial districts for the April 5th, citywide Philly Spring Clean Up. Click below to register as a volunteer. Keep Philadelphia Beautiful will celebrate environmental stewardship with Fairmount Park and the PA Interfaith Center. Keep PA Beautiful kicks-off the Great PA Clean Up on April 19th, with great events across the state. As Earth Day approaches, KPB will celebrate with youth recycling events at schools, Macy’s center city and a neighborhood tree planting.

In May, Keep Philadelphia Beautiful will dedicate a new green space to the Mt. Airy and Germantown sections of the city. The green space was awarded to Philadelphia from Scotts MircleGro through a grant from Keep America Beautiful.

The Great American Clean Up is the nation's largest community improvement program, takes place annually from March 1 through May 31, involving an estimated 2.8 million volunteers and attendees.
